Central Oregon Travel Guide
The high desert of Central Oregon has emerged as one of the largest attractions for visitors and it's easy to see why. With world-class skiing at Mt. Bachelor, clear skies when it is raining elsewhere, and long, hot summers, recreation opportunities come year round. The boom town of Bend has emerged as the hub for all your outdoor activities from mountain biking to whitewater rafting, paragliding endless thermals or fishing-fishing the Deschutes.
With a significant collection of microbreweries, distilleries and restaurants, you never have to worry about what to eat after hiking through the lava fields of the Cascades most recent volcanoes. Venturing farther out will bring you to an older Oregon at the John Day Fossil Beds where every spring the Painted Hills prove their name with an unparalleled wildflower display. This is one of the few places where you have the option of riding horses or simply watching wild mustangs on the range.
