When the warm summer winds blow through, it is safe to assume that the sailing is epic and weather you choose surf, kite or sail, you will be thanking the wind gods for your good fortune.  Windsurfing, kite boarding and sailing opportunities exist up and down the west coast and inland on rivers and bays and are often accompanied by inviting towns, awesome hotels and good pubs to explore after you rip it and grip it on the water.  Spend a week windsurfing the Squamish spit while taking in the towering granite peaks along the coast line.  Enjoy summer vacation from the shores of the Columbia River, eating fresh local cherries in between big air sessions at the Hood River waterfront park.  Or take a quick break from the exciting streets of San Francisco and enjoy a sailboat ride around the bay.  Gear rentals, lessons and beautiful, windy locations are easy to come by and will undoubtedly be a highlight of your trip.
